Week 1: Setting Up My Foundation — What I Actually Did This Week

Alright… week one of my $250/day recurring income challenge is officially in the books. And wow — for a “beginner-friendly” challenge, it sure didn’t feel like a warm-up lap. But that’s exactly why I’m doing this series: to document every part of the journey. The wins, the frustrations, the breakthroughs… all of it.

So here’s what went down in my very first week of building this online income machine.

What I Set Up This Week

Before I get into the list, let me say this: promoting a new offer as an affiliate marketer is a lot more than dropping a link in a blog post or updating your YouTube profile.

When you decide to take on a new offer — especially one you truly believe in — you have to align your entire online ecosystem around it.

New funnel.
New opt-in flow.
New email sequences.
New messaging.
New positioning.

It’s like recalibrating every moving part so the moment someone discovers you, they step into an experience that actually makes sense and guides them toward the offer. That’s what this week was all about for me: realigning all my assets to welcome the Internet Profits Academy into my business.

Here’s everything I set up:

1. Updated my blog with a new Hero section
I wanted visitors to instantly understand my mission, so I added a bold new Hero section announcing my challenge and linking to the journey.

2. Created a full page about the Internet Profits Academy
Instead of just tossing links around, I built a clean page where people can learn exactly what the Academy is and why I joined.

3. Built a brand-new funnel from scratch
This one took some work, but it’s done:

  • Opt-in page with form
  • Double opt-in flow
  • Download page for my lead magnet
  • Plus a direct link to the Academy on the download page

After performing some tests, my funnel is now officially “traffic-ready.”

4. Wrote a complete 7-day welcome email sequence
This introduces new subscribers to who I am, what I stand for, and what they’ll get from following me.

5. Added a 4-week follow-up sequence promoting the Academy
This is where I’ll build long-term value and trust… while also generating commissions.

Not bad for a week where I’m supposed to stick to “one hour a day,” right? (Yes, I absolutely cheated on weekends… no regrets.)

Here’s a quick sketch of the “engine” I built to promote the Internet Profits Academy. It’s definitely hand-drawn, but with the little time I have to put these posts together, shortcuts are my best friends!

Don’t worry if this look like rocket science for you. The training sessions of the Academy give you step-by-step clarity on how to built it and what’s the purpose of each block.

And at the end of this setup phase, I sketched out what I call my money-making engine — the system that will power all my Internet Profits Academy promotions.

It’s basically a visual map of how every piece fits together: the funnel, the lead magnet, the email automation, the offer… all working in sync.

You’ll notice my blog is part of that engine too. Now, is a blog required to build recurring income online?

Not at all.

Plenty of affiliate marketers crush it without one. But for my strategy, it’s a huge advantage.

My blog acts as the central hub of everything I create — a place where people can get to know me, like me, and trust me over time. It’s where I can document the journey, build deeper relationships, and redirect readers to my offers and content naturally.

And the best part?

The audience I reach across the internet — from social platforms, search engines, and videos — they’re the fuel that keeps this entire engine running.

What Clicked for Me This Week

Two big realizations hit me hard — in the best possible way.

1. I am my niche.
I’m on the same road as the people I want to help. That’s not a disadvantage — that’s my superpower.
It means I need to show up honestly, transparently, and as myself.

2. Traffic is the real battleground.
My blog and my funnel are important, but the war is won outside those platforms.
That’s where the people are — social media, short-form video, communities.
If I want results, that’s where I have to show up consistently.

My “Aha!” Moments

A couple of unexpected insights popped up while I worked:

• Reddit might be a goldmine.
I underestimated how much targeted visibility is possible there.

• Video works — but it’s time-consuming.
YouTube and TikTok are incredibly powerful for trust-building…
but wow, do they demand time and energy.

Still worth it. Just something to manage smartly.

Wins, Frustrations & Tiny Breakthroughs

Wins

  • Finished building my entire online money-making machine… before Christmas.
  • The whole system is set up and ready for traffic — a huge milestone.

Frustrations

  • My one-hour-a-day schedule is tight. Very tight.
  • And of course… privacy laws.
Since I’m in Canada, I needed a hosting provider with Canadian servers.
That meant migrating my whole WordPress site from Cloudflare to WHC.

Unexpected? Yes.
Fun? Not really.
But WHC actually made the migration smooth, and so far, everything runs perfectly.

I also switched to their email service, MailerMojo, which is super easy to use…
but I’m still trying to figure out how to get my Facebook leads into it.

No direct integration. No easy solution yet.

Zapier? Maybe. Maybe not. I had to open a support ticket just to find out.

[update: WHC Support said MailerMojo is not supported yet by Zapier. However WHC said they can offer their own API or webhook so I asked more details about it.]

The glamorous life of an affiliate marketer, right?

Wrapping Up Week 1

Even with the challenges, this first week felt like real progress.
The setup is done. The machine is ready. Now the fun begins — driving traffic and seeing what happens.

Next week, I’m diving deeper into traffic generation and focusing on building momentum across multiple platforms.

If you’re following this challenge with me… thanks for being here.
Let’s see how far we can go — one week, one step, one win at a time.
