A simple look at the metrics of my Facebook lead ad this week convinces me that it performs at its best.
Well, compared to my first campaigns, this ad now performs wonderfully.
Can I do better? Probably. Did I make progress? Yes I did, and this only thought gives me confidence that my investment worth something.
Just to give you an idea, here are my numbers at the end of this week:
- Number of new leads: 37
- Cost per lead (CPL): 2.57 $US
- Number of Clicks: 164
- Click Through Rate (CTR): 4.77%
- Cost per click (CPC): 0.62 $US
- Campaign Budget = 7.10 $US per day
- Time period: 7 days
Note: For an explanation of the metrics parameters, please visit my post “Meta Plays With My Nerves”
Based on Meta, the suggestion would be to increase the campaign budget by 5.10 $US to increase the ad performance by 50%. This means it could give 1.5x more results (Leads) than my actual budget so, decreasing the cost per leads.
Even if I would pay more per day, it is supposed to be more advantageous on the long run. So I’ll try it and see by myself how it does.
I tend to follow Meta’s recommendations because, up to now, this is what allowed me to increase the performance of my ad copy to what it is actually which is a good thing.
The other recommendation I accepted was to first run the ad without targeting any specific audience first. Doing this let Meta shows the ad in front of a large audience first and let Facebook algorithm learns what audience will best respond to my ad. I did this step for about 3 days. This was supposed to work like a rough calibration for the algorithm.
Then I fine-tuned by adding some interests’ criteria in order to more specifically target the right people and optimizing the budget over a smaller audience. The “interests” topics I added are “Affiliate Marketing”, “Digital Marketing”, and “Make Money Online”.
From Meta’s recommendation I accepted also to add AI generated alternatives to my original ad copy and this seems to work as well.
Now having an ad running and optimized for the trend of the moment, my task “generating traffic” and “capturing leads” with a paid methodology is in good way, as far as I have the budget to sustain it.
I know I’m losing money but there will be no gain without first an investment.
This is an investment I’m making with money in order to save time, otherwise, this would have been time invested on organic methods that don’t give immediate results.
Following-Up
We’ll now explore how to create emails that prioritize valuable content over promotional offers, ensuring your messages are both welcomed and anticipated. I’ve touched these aspects also in a previous blog post you might want to read as well: “It’s time to follow-up”.
An email remains one of the most powerful tools for nurturing leads and maintaining engagement with your audience.
Despite I have the theory under my tie, I still miss the practice and experience.
Ideally, my mentor told me that I should follow-up with my leads with an email every day which actually I’m far from doing.
Common sense would be that if I email too often, my emails are likely to be considered as SPAM. In fact this is what I thought initially and this is why I was afraid to post more than once a week.
Apparently, if you are able to provide value in each of your email, then sending an email a day to your subscribers is ideal. Why? Because people forget. People will forget you if your emails are too much spaced in time.
If they don’t know you or forgot about you, even if they opted-in for your lead magnet on Facebook, then you’re more likely to be tagged as spam.
With new leads, you need to establish a daily communication to introduce yourself and create a relationship before you go any further. This is why a relationship-building, automated email sequence, is so important to have.
Once a lead as completed the sequence usually 10 to 15 days is considered ideal, the follow-up should continue as far as possible by broadcasting and pursuing the email thread with a newsletter for example, hence given more up-to-date information and insights about your brand and topic.
However, the challenge isn’t just in reaching inboxes—it’s in delivering content that truly matters to your subscribers. If you’re curious to have a behind-the-scene peak at how I achieve my follow-up strategies with my email list, primarily built from Facebook lead ads, then continue reading. I made the following guide for you.
Understanding the Audience
Before crafting any email, it’s crucial to understand the demographics and preferences of your audience. With your list primarily generated from Facebook lead ads, your subscribers may have initially engaged with your brand out of curiosity or specific interest in your ad’s promise. This is your opportunity to transform that interest into a lasting relationship by consistently delivering valuable content.
Focus on Content-Driven Emails
1. Educational Content: Share insights, tips, or behind-the-scenes looks at your industry (this is what I’m doing in this post actually 😉). This positions your brand as an authority and keeps subscribers informed.
2. Storytelling: Use compelling narratives to connect emotionally with your audience. Share success stories, customer testimonials, or personal anecdotes that resonate with your subscribers. People like stories.
3. Curated Content: Provide a digest of relevant articles, videos, or podcasts that your audience will find beneficial. Curating content saves your audience time and keeps them engaged with your brand.

Avoiding the Spam Trap
To ensure your emails are well-received, avoid the pitfalls of spam by focusing on:
- Relevance: Always tailor your content to meet the interests and needs of your audience.
- Frequency: Resist the urge to bombard your audience with too many emails. Consistency is key but prioritize quality over quantity.
- Transparency: Clearly state why you’re contacting them and how often they can expect to hear from you.
By focusing on content that truly adds value, you not only foster trust and loyalty with your subscribers but also position your brand as a thought leader in the industry.
